Briefing Determining fish stocks complex, expert says

Halifax -- Federal officials must do more than just count fish in assessing the health of fragile East Coast fisheries, a Halifax professor says.
Tony Charles says that if scientists had looked at factors including toxic residues, whale populations and bankruptcies in the late 1980s they would have seen the collapse of cod stocks was imminent.
